UNDP Deputy Resident Representative
Ms. Izumi Morota-Alakija, (Japan) has been appointed as the UNDP Deputy Resident Representative for the Republic of Namibia since September 2015. Before her current appointment (2012-2015), Izumi was UNDP Deputy Resident Representative (DRR) in The Gambia. During Izumi’s professional career she has held various posts including: Resource Mobilization and Partnership Development Advisor with UNDP, South Africa (2011-2012), Programme Audit Specialist with UNDP OAI, Johannesburg (2005-2011), Programme Specialist & Deputy to the Section Chief, UNV, Bonn (1998-2005), and Junior Professional Officer, UNIFEM, Lagos (1994-1997). She also served as Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer with University of the South Pacific, Fiji, as a Research Associate/Statistician (1990-1992). Izumi holds a Bachelors degree in Sociology and Anthropology from West Virginia University, USA and a Masters degree in International Development Administrations from Monterey Institute of International Studies, USA.
