INDC Training Workshop for the Pacific Islands
SEPT 28 - 29, 2015 | Apia, Samoa
This Training Workshop on Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs), held in Apia, Samoa, was organised by UNDP in collaboration with the UNFCCC Secretariat and the Government of Australia. The workshop was part of the joint UNDP-UNFCCC INDC Regional Dialogues funded by a number of donors and was hosted by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environmental Programme (SPREP) at their headquarters in Apia. The workshop brought together representatives of Pacific Island countries.
- Provide participants with in-depth technical training in four thematic areas related to INDC preparation;
- Offer a forum for learning from INDC submissions to date;
- Address pending technical questions related to INDC preparation; and
- Improve participants' capacity to prepare and submit INDCs to the UNFCCC Secretariat.
The workshop was organised primarily around four thematic areas run by resource experts. The clinics included practical exercises and relied on case studies of submitted and advanced INDCs in order to illustrate "good practices" or different options related to the clinic topics. The workshop was attended by 26 participants from 13 Pacific Island countries, as well as a number of resource experts and representatives of other organisations
