The UNDP Namibia Country office launched the Namibia Sustainable Development Goals Online Hub on 28 February 2020 in Windhoek. The Hub is finding new radical approaches that fit the complexity of current #development challenges through online interaction.

The new site features streamlined and easy access to essential information such as indicators showing how Namibia is faring in realising the achievement of the SDGs. It features the latest indicator on all the global goals and shows how Namibia specifically is faring. Furthermore, the site also features a chat forum where everyone can contribute to the global goals’ conversation in Namibia.

The UNDP Namibia Resident Representative, Alka Bhatia at the launch stated that everyone needs to take ownership of the SDGs. “It is opportune that we are launching this hub in the Decade of Action, just ten years are remaining, and everyone must advocate and champion the SDGs”, she stated during her address at the launch

Intending to be an interactive and learning experience for all participants, the launch of the SDG online Hub began with a maze experience. The maze featured three rooms with distinct purposes which included a live Art room, SDG conversation café and the SDG hub experience room.

Room 1 featured the Conversation Cafe with the UNDP Namibia Resident Representative, Alka Bhatia and Yrika Vanessa Maritz where they highlighted the Decade of Action and emphasised to the participants that the #SDGs are everyone's responsibility. A video highlighting Namibians contributing to the SDGs was also featured.

Room 2 featured a live-painting art room where participants interpreted what the 17 Sustainable Development Goals mean to them. Professional painters were also on-site interpreting the global goals through art.
